The scientific activities of Ataturk Culture Centre are executed by the president and members of The Science and Application Branches who are chosen among members of The Science Committee. The Executive Committee, which is composed of four persons chosen out of full members of the Culture Centre by the Science Committee and appointed with a mutual decision, executes the Centre’s scientific, administrative and financial activities in accordance with the principles of the law and resolutions of the Science Committee. Resolutions regarding publications are taken by The Publication Commission and presented to the Board of Directors after being discussed by the Executive Committee. Members of the Publication Commission are appointed among full members by the Science Committee. 

Ataturk Culture Centre has 40 full members. Full members are elected for a period of six years. Previously, during the establishment period this amount was 20 but it was first increased to 30 at the meeting of Ataturk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History dated 18.10.1989 and then increased to 40 at the meeting held on 16.10.1995 in accordance with Article 76 of Law No: 2876.

Alongside the full members, Ataturk Culture Centre has 30 honorary and 12 contact members abroad and at home.

Members of the Science Committee undertake duties at the science and application branches, executive committee, publication commission and other commissions.

Ataturk Culture Centre has nine science and application branches established with the proposal of the executive committee, the resolution of the science committee and the approval of the Board of Directors of the High Council:

  Science and Thought Science and Application Branch
  Turkish Art Science and Application Branch
  Literature Science and Application Branch
  Turkish Folk Culture Science and Application Branch
  Turkish World Research Science and Application Branch
  Social Research Regarding Turkish Society Science and Application Branch
  Music, Theatre and Performing Arts Science and Application Branch
  Communication Science and Application Branch
  Law Research Science and Application Branch

However, upon the overruling of some clauses of Law No. 2876, which were altered with Decree Law No. 519, by the  Constitutional Court’s decision dated 25.11.1993 and numbered E.1993/51, K.1993/53, the Centre has not been able to form the committees and assign the members since 2002.

Administrative organization of Ataturk Culture Centre consists of Centre President and Deputy President subsidiary to Centre President, Centre Secretary, and Branch Directorate of Strategy Development, Branch Directorate of Domestic and Overseas Relations, Branch Directorate of Personnel and Education, Branch Directorate of Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Branch Directorate of Library, and Accountant and Property Accountant subsidiary to Central Secretariat. However, Law No. 5018 has rearranged the branch directorates at public institutions as Strategy Development and Personnel Branch Directorates. A similar restructuring will be carried out at our Centre.
